Timber and weatherboards
Weatherboards, exterior timber, window frames and doors. Preparation is tailored to the condition of the timber and the existing finish.
Eaves, fascias and roofline details
Eaves, soffits, fascias, bargeboards and suitable gutters and downpipes. Roof coatings are quoted as a separate service.
Metalwork and other exterior details

Fairlight — from preparation to finished cladding
New exterior cladding was patched, sanded and primed before finishing with Dulux Weathershield. The photographs show the preparation stage and the finished exterior from different viewpoints.
A sound finish starts with preparation
Painting over a failing surface leaves the original problem underneath. Our quote sets out the preparation needed before the finishing coats.
1. Inspect and agree the scope
We inspect the existing paint, substrate and access, discuss colours and finishes, and identify areas that need attention before painting.
2. Protect, clean and prepare
We protect adjacent surfaces and plan access around the property. Cleaning, scraping and sanding are selected to remove contaminants and loose or poorly bonded coatings without unnecessary damage to the substrate.
3. Repair and prime
Agreed minor filling and patching are completed before suitable primers, sealers or undercoats are applied where needed. Rust and exposed timber require their own preparation. Larger defects are raised with you before work proceeds.
4. Paint, check and clean up
We apply the agreed coating system in suitable conditions, allowing the specified drying and recoating time. The work finishes with checks, touch-ups, site clean-up and a walkthrough with you.
Peeling paint, cracks or rust? Start with the cause
- Peeling or flaking paint: loose coatings need to be removed and the remaining surface checked before repainting.
- Small cracks and surface damage: suitable filling or patching may be included after assessment.
- Mould, staining or dampness: cleaning is only part of the answer; recurring moisture needs its source investigated.
- Rust or deteriorated timber: the extent of the damage determines whether preparation is sufficient or repairs are needed first.
When repairs need to come first
Painting does not repair structural movement, active leaks, failed waterproofing or rotten structural timber. If we identify a concern, we discuss it with you so the appropriate repairs can be arranged before coating the affected area.
The right coating for each surface
We select primers and finishes to suit the substrate, existing coating and exposure. The quote identifies the proposed system and finish for the agreed areas.
Render and masonry
The condition of the surface, previous coatings and any moisture-related issues guide preparation and product choice. A sound, suitably dry base matters before paint is applied.
Exterior timber
Weatherboards, frames and doors need attention to bare areas, joints and failed paint. A coating suitable for exterior timber is selected for the required finish.
Metal surfaces
Existing finishes, corrosion and the type of metal affect the preparation and primer required. Coastal exposure is considered where relevant; no coating removes the need for maintenance.

Exterior painting questions
Can you paint just part of the outside of my house?
Yes. We can quote selected areas, such as the front façade, weatherboards or exterior trims, as well as a full exterior repaint. Tell us which areas you want included.
Do you remove peeling paint before repainting?
Loose or failing paint needs appropriate preparation before a new coating is applied. We assess how much removal, sanding, repair and priming is required and include the agreed preparation in the quote.
What happens if it rains?
We adjust the work to suitable conditions and the product’s requirements. Rain, damp surfaces or unsuitable drying conditions can delay painting; we keep you informed about the effect on the schedule.
Can we stay at home during the work?
Exterior work can often be planned around an occupied home. Access, open windows, entrances, pets and any restricted areas need to be discussed before starting, so arrangements suit the property and the work.
