Kensington windows,
eaves and pergola painting
This Kensington project focused on exterior details: windows, eaves, a metal fence and the rear pergola. Preparation was tailored to the existing timber and metal coatings, including removing failing paint, repairing defects and treating local rust.
Preparing the timber details
Loose and failing coating was removed from the pergola and eaves. The timber was sanded, cleaned and patched where needed so that repairs and sound existing areas could receive a suitable finish.
Prepared areas were primed with an oil-based Zinsser/Rust-Oleum primer. The eaves and pergola were finished with Dulux Weathershield, while the windows received Dulux Aquanamel Semi Gloss. The different finishes reflect the separate surfaces included in the work.
This was a project covering selected exterior elements, not a repaint of every external wall. The photographs show the preparation and finished details associated with that scope.
Cleaning and repainting the metal fence
The metalwork was sanded thoroughly and cleaned with thinner before coating. Areas of rust were addressed as part of preparation, followed by the primer and finish appropriate to the prepared metal.
Dulux Etch Primer and Dulux Metalshield were used on the fence work. The finish used was Metalshield Epoxy Enamel.
Working around rails, joins and edges takes time: these details need attention during cleaning and sanding as well as during painting. The finished photographs show the fence and gate after the work.
A coordinated finish for exterior details
Refreshing the windows, eaves, pergola and metalwork improved the appearance of the property without treating every material as the same surface. The preparation and selected coatings were specific to the work found on site.
