House Painting Sydney

A complete repaint starts with a clear plan.

Vakker Australia plans and paints Sydney homes inside, outside or both. We assess the surfaces, agree on preparation and provide a detailed written quote before work begins.

Plan the repaint around your home

“Whole house” means different things for different properties. We start by agreeing which rooms, external areas and details need painting, so you can see what is included before work begins.

Interior repainting

Plan the rooms, ceilings, doors and trims together, including access and the order of work. For surface preparation and finish options, explore our interior painting service.

Exterior repainting

Define the outside walls and details to be painted, then consider their condition, access and the weather. Our exterior painting page explains the surfaces and preparation in more detail.

Interior and exterior together

If both areas need attention, we can discuss them as one coordinated project. The quote makes each part of the scope clear, with a sequence that suits the property. You do not need to book both services together.

This short is from the same Mosman home pictured above. The project brought together exterior painting, interior repainting and kitchen cabinetry work.

  • Exterior walls and details were prepared and painted.
  • Inside, the work included ceilings, walls, doors, skirtings and metal balustrades.
  • Kitchen cabinets were sanded and cleaned before primer and finish coats were sprayed.

One clear plan, from inspection to handover

1. Walk through the scope

We discuss the areas you want painted, the condition of the existing finish and any concerns you have. Let us know about previous repairs, peeling paint or moisture problems, as these may affect the work required.

2. Agree the quote and finishes

The quote sets out the agreed painting work and preparation. We discuss colours and finishes, access requirements and any items that need separate attention before painting can proceed.

3. Plan access and the sequence

Before starting, we agree how the work will move through the property. Interior access, furniture, outdoor conditions and other trades can all affect the order of work.

4. Prepare and paint

The agreed preparation comes before the finish coats. If an unexpected issue changes the scope, we discuss the additional work with you before proceeding. Interior and exterior coatings are selected for their respective surfaces and conditions.

5. Review the completed work

At handover, we review the agreed areas with you and discuss any remaining items. Keep the colour and product details for future maintenance and touch-ups.

Painting while you live at home

Let us know if the property will be occupied during the repaint. We can then discuss which areas need to remain accessible and whether working in stages is practical.

Before work starts, we agree:

  • which rooms and entry points are needed each day;
  • what furniture and belongings need to be moved, and by whom;
  • how children, pets and other household needs affect access;
  • arrangements for ventilation, drying time and returning rooms to use;
  • how painting fits around other renovation work.

Some work may make a room or access route temporarily unavailable. We will discuss this rather than promise that every repaint can happen without disruption.

Know what is included in your house painting quote

A clear quote makes it easier to compare the work, not just the total price. Ask us to identify the areas and surfaces included, the preparation allowed for, the proposed finishes and any access requirements.

Items such as roof painting, decking, kitchen cabinetry or extensive repairs are not automatically included in a house repaint. If you need them, mention them at the inspection so the scope can be assessed separately.

Painting is not a substitute for fixing an active leak, structural problem or unsound surface. Where other work is needed first, it should be resolved before the affected area is painted.

How much does a house repaint cost in Sydney?

The cost depends on more than the number of bedrooms. The total paintable area, condition of the existing coating, amount of preparation, number of colours, access and whether the home is occupied all affect the work involved.

An interior-only repaint, an exterior-only repaint and a combined project have different scopes. We assess the property before providing a detailed quote, so the proposed work is clear.

For general pricing information, see our painting price guide. For a quote for your home, tell us your suburb, the areas you want painted and any timing requirements.

House repainting questions

Do I need to paint the interior and exterior at the same time?

No. You can arrange interior or exterior painting separately. If both need work, we can discuss a combined scope and practical sequence. The decision depends on the condition of the property, your priorities and the proposed work.

Can a whole-house repaint be completed in stages?

We can discuss staged work during the inspection. Access, occupancy, preparation and drying conditions will affect what is practical. Agree the stages before work starts so the quote and schedule reflect the plan.

How long will painting my house take?

There is no reliable timeframe based on bedroom count alone. The size of the scope, repairs, preparation, access and exterior weather conditions all matter. We discuss an expected schedule after assessing the property and the work required.

Who moves the furniture and protects the house?

We agree these arrangements before starting. Tell us about heavy furniture, valuable items and any areas that must remain accessible. Personal belongings and fragile items should be discussed in advance so responsibilities are clear.

Are roofs, decks and kitchen cabinets included?

Not automatically. They are separate surfaces and may require different preparation or coating systems. Mention them when requesting the quote, and we can assess whether they should be included as an additional scope.

Can you give a final quote from photos?

Photos help us understand the property and the work you have in mind. They may not show every preparation or access issue, so we may need an onsite inspection before confirming the scope and price.

Let’s plan your house repaint

Tell us your suburb, whether you need interior painting, exterior painting or both, and any concerns about the existing finish. Let us know if the home will be occupied or if the work needs to fit around other trades. You can attach a photo to help us understand the project.

For a combined interior and exterior repaint, choose Other under Service and describe both areas in your message.
